Charlotte Hardy

Charlotte was born in 1977 in Reading and grew up in a very small rural village in West Berkshire. She graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1999 with an honours degree in printed textiles and has since been back to teach drawing on the course.

She worked primarily as a painter for five years exhibiting and selling work in galleries. During this time she undertook several illustration commissions including the monthly wine list in Waitrose Food Illustrated Magazine. As well as a painter she now teaches at two colleges and runs an Art Sketchbook course in the Summer which has proved so popular she has been asked to run a course in France.

Charlotte’s love of drawing collections of old-fashioned and decorative objects stemmed from her time at University. She would take her sketchbook and paint different collections on display, such as miniature tea sets, old envelopes and bottles of writing ink, Victorian wooden pegs etc. She still treasures this sketchbook today.

"I love using decorative collage as well as paint and ink, to create layers of texture and colour in my work."
